Paper 1 assessment learner response

1) Type up your feedback in full (you do not need to write mark/grade if you do not wish to).

Total = 24 Grade = 5

WWW: Good knowledge of terminology and CSPs shown here - Well done!

EBI: Social + cultural contexts question, an area to focus on for revision and practice. Add more depth and detail to unseen text analysis.

LR - See blog

2) Look at the mark scheme for this assessment. For Question 2 (12 mark unseen) use the indicative content in the mark scheme to identify three points that you could have referred to in your answer.

In question 2 I could've referred to:
  • Typography - Sans serif - modern, new, training, hard work, mental health
  • Central image - Mise-en-scene - Costume (wearing all red), action (lifting a heavy tyre), expression (determination)
  • Non verbal codes - Athletic body (prepared), dress code (connotations of strength)

3) For Question 3 (Galaxy - narrative features) use the mark scheme to write down the main narrative theories and how we can link them to the Galaxy advert CSP.

Todorov's equilibrium - Starts with a disequilibrium of the bus being stopped. New equilibrium is Audrey Hepburn being picked up by the man and taking her to her location.

Propp's character theory - Audhery Hepburn is the princess who needs saving, the man is the hero, the bus driver is the donor and the fruits are the villain. Later, Audhery Hepburn becomes the heroine and the man becomes the sidekick.

Roland Barthes enigma and action code theory - When Audhery Hepburn is on the bus and the bus stops. An enigma code is created - Why has the bus stopped?

4) Now look at Question 4 - Tatler and social/cultural contexts. Use the mark scheme to identify three points you could have made in your answer here.

I could've referred to:
  • The serif font in the title and how it represents British society
  • The colour scheme of green and new.
  • the references of royalty which also represents British culture.

5) On Section B, focus on Question 7 - film industry and Black Widow. Use the mark scheme to identify three ways Black Widow was marketed to its audience.

One way Black Widow was marketed to its audience was with IMAX promotions.
Another way Black widow was marketed was that the Marvel website had gallery of Black Widow on their website.
Another way Black Widow was marketed was teasers trailers.

6) Finally, write down three things you are going to work on before your next mock exam in December (e.g. time management; revising CSPs etc.)

I am going focus on time management and stop procrastinating. I am going focus on questions that ask for social, cultural and historic and 12 markers. I am going focus on revising the conventions of a magazine cover and the CSPs.
